When I retire I’d like to go back to college, not for another degree, but so I can audit classes in Art History (or maybe I’ll just hang around a museum and crash the tours that are given.)  The reason…I love history and I love art, but I also want to know which kinds of creative types go through a period of drowning in ideas and then a period in which there is a struggle for ideas.  I’m this type.  (And I’m almost afraid to find out what the psychological profile is for these artists — self-mutilation?family abandonment?  self-imposed exile?  I think I know…)

Met in NYC

Right now, I have so many ideas, I can’t sketch, swatch or knit fast enough (and I don’t have much time to do any of these).

But sometimes, I can’t seem to focus on even getting one single idea down.  I’ll sketch and sketch, but nothing seems to come easily.

What does this mean?  Or should I not worry since there’s a burst right now?
