I’ve been out of touch lately, but I have so many things to tell you. Most of them good, but some of them not so good. So I’ll start with a happy one — babies, knitting, publishing!
May 1st brought the publication of 60 More Quick Baby Knits,
a book of baby knits using Cascade 220 Superwash Sport and published by Sixth & Spring Books.
I have a pattern in here for a Sailor Dress.
When I designed and knit this dress late last spring, it was for a much smaller girl – size 12 months, so I wished the photo showed it on a girl that size! I called my version “Sparrowette” after the famous Jack Sparrow of “Pirates of the Caribbean” fame. I liked the layering effects of the center insert. But there are so many beautiful designs in this book, I think it’s a great addition to the library, even if I wasn’t in it.
Just to name a few. I’m sorry I didn’t get my copy sooner, as I am in the middle of baby shower knitting. Two of my colleagues at work are expecting their seconds. One knows it’s a girl, but the other doesn’t know. So I’m making The Sunnyside Cardigan by Tanis Lavallee of Tanis Fiber Arts. This cardigan comes in two versions – a lacy version, suitable for girls, I think, and a cable verison, which is more unisex. There will be two different colors, but similar cardigans – it will all be fair at the joint shower.
Next post, the not-so-good thing…
